MEDICS is the annual conference of the Scientific Organization of Medical Students (SOMS).

Now in our second year, we are once again bringing together world-renowned speakers and passionate trainers. Inspiring conferences and exclusive workshops are ensured.

Do you have some research of your own? Become a Presenting Author and join our Sessions with your Oral or Poster Presentation.

This year, we will make sure you get a place at the events that interest you. With the new rules, you can now design your own conference and engage in groundbreaking science, the way you like it.

What’s new

Getting the Workshop you want is easy: You can now make sure you wont miss the Workshop that you want. Once you pay and your account becomes active, you will be able to book your Workshop as soon as we post it on our website. Read more about it on the Workshops page.

Tell us what interests you:  Do you and your friends have a Workshop you'd like to see in our program? Let us know and we'll try to make it happen. Be sure you regularly check our Facebook page we will be posting polls where you can vote for the Workshops youd like to see at our conference.

Forests are supposed to make air, not paper:  This year we will be handing out Electronic Certificates of Participation. They carry the same validity as the physical ones, only with less paper waste. Besides, theyre easier to keep and less dust is involved. Read more about it on the Fees page.

For his Keynote Lecture, Dr. Domenico Scopelliti, Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Rome “La Sapienza”, will talk about facial malformations, covering the whole picture: from scientific considerations in the management of cleft palate, to treatment protocols and humanitarian aspects.

Isabelle Simoneau | Pediatric Extracorporeal Life Support: an Anesthesiologist's Perspective

Advances in extracorporeal technology have allowed for wider application of this therapy in pediatric ICUs. Dr. Isabelle Simoneau, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, will explain what is ECLS, how it’s done and why choosing the right candidates makes a difference.

Learn about the latest edition of the pediatric resuscitation guidelines from an American Heart Association consultant! Dr. Nicole Shilkofski, Associate Professor of Pediatric Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, will talk about the major changes in basic and advanced life support, with emphasis on pediatric advanced life support.  

Wg Cdr Ankur Pandya | War and Peace - The plastic surgeon's view

A first-hand account of what it means to be a medical worker in war-afflicted areas. Wing Commander Ankur Pandya, Royal Air Force, a multi award winning plastic surgeon, will share his experience in dealing with battlefield cases and how to react in times when the only gold standard is to think fast.
